Finding It Hard To Make Decisions?
You know the drill. There’s a lot happening in your life; the demands are many and your stress levels are high. You lie awake at night constantly ‘thinking’ and during the day, making decisions—even the simplest of them—is difficult.
When our minds are burdened and overworked, we feel as though we don’t have the energy to determine what we should do and often, we are afraid to make a decision in fear that it turns out to be the wrong one.
Spending too much time with our mind constantly over-thinking is unhealthy. Mental burdens place stress on our body. If we don’t do something about it we get stuck in a cycle of perpetual stress and then, before we realise it, our health declines. Our mind needs rest and ‘time out’ from a flow of constant worrying thoughts.
How can we restore mental balance; how can we bring peace and harmony back to our lives?
Firstly, it is imperative that we learn to read and understand the triggers—signs which indicate to us that we are mentally stressed. The warning signs often show up when it comes to decision making— particularly when we are making small, everyday decisions—“what shall I cook for dinner” being an example. If everyday decisions are getting harder to make, it is a message to us that we are ‘out of sync and balance.’ Our aim should be to learn to read the signs before we reach that point!
The second step is to take action that reconnects you back to your spiritual core—your centre of peace. This is vital as, unless we tap back into our spiritual core, we will remain feeling stressed and uneasy.
There are many ways in which we can re-establish our connection with our deeper self. A great way is to immerse ourselves in nature—go for a walk; or to meditate; visualise beautiful scenes; listen to music that is soothing. It is important that we engage in strategies that feed our soul and spirit; strategies that move our focus of attention away from ‘over–thinking’ and back into the present moment where we are able to experience the peace that resides within.
It’s more than a matter of simply doing something that makes us feel good; it is taking action that allows us to get back in touch with our inner self. When we are in touch with the deeper part of our being, we begin to experience peace—and when we find peace, we gain mental clarity.
Moving away from burdening thoughts, resting our mind and reconnecting to the peace, joy and love that is at the core of our being, is the key.
A peaceful mind is a powerful mind. When we have mental clarity in our lives, everyday decisions are easier to make.
